In the morning of 9^th Semptember, 2016 Freshman Opening Ceremony was hold in gymnasium. All of our university leaders from schools andadministrative offices, teachers in charge of classess, all the freshmen participated in the openning ceremony.

 On behalf of more than 800 faculty members and staffs in university, President Chen Ning delivered warm welcome to freshmen in 2016.

President Chen said that, Chengdu Normal University is a higher normal university with 61 years history, and by adhereing to the belief of ‘Let a person become ateacher, and make a person become a teacher’, our university has cultivated alarge number of outstanding educators for education in Sichuan and even in WestChina. President Chen hope every student keep the motto ‘Love, Truth, Faith and Action’ in mind and also explained the meaning of each word of motto withfollowing sentences: ‘Love’is the most basic human emotions, but love is not onlypersonal love, it is related to national, ethnic, social love. Because of love,our study,life and effort have an engine. ‘Truth’ is the most sacred pursuit for auniversity. Students should have a sincere heart to pursuit for truth, explorefor knowledge and be a sincere person. ‘Belief’ is a kind of life attitude tostrive for personal goals from every littile thing with hard working. ‘Action’is a life attitude for a student in new period. It is a positive and uplifting attitude tobelieve that you can get things done by yourself.

President Chen expected that, every student from the first day of university can undertake thesacred mission entrusted by the times and bravely take responsibility as auniversity student.University students should systematically study knowledgefrom subjects, participate in social practice, and also build up willpower andpersonal quality.

President Chenencouraged students that university time is beautiful and short, and it is the valuable life stage which is the most creative and dynamic. Since studentsstudy here, live here, think here and research here, Chengdu Normal Universitywill be embedded in the life course of each student. President hoped studentsadhere to the beginning of the heart by studying hard and doing more researchin the classroom, library and laboratory; president hoped students take themoment and plan well for every day, every week, every month, and every semester; presidenthoped students think independently, explore bravely, dare to challenge, andcultivate habit of independent thinking; president hoped students insistentlytake responsibility, bravely undertake and adhere to the‘Love, Truth, Faith and Action’motto; President hoped students be qualified citizens by learningknowledge and culture as well as bravely taking social responsibility, andbuild up their own life with youth and ideal

Professor Li Qingshuof Teacher’s Education School, on behalf of teachers, made a speech to students.

Two student representatives, respectively on behalf of current students and new students,expressed the welcome and honored emotion from their statements.

Thehost of opening ceremony, Professor Sun Kang, pointed out that students should actively take responsibilities for their own future with hard working, and then host announced the end of the openning ceremony.
