The Schoolof Chemistry and LifeScience isone of the earliest organized undergraduate majors in Chengdu NormalUniversity. At present, it offers two Junior College Programes (3 year):Chemistry Education and the Application of Chemical Technology. The departmenthas a professional teaching team composed of excellent teachers, including 3professors, 6 associate professors, 2 lecturers and 2 laboratory technicians.Among them, more than 70% have master’s or doctor’s degrees. The department hasmany laboratories including the lab of Curriculum and Teaching Methodology,Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, PhysicalChemistry, Environmental Chemistry, Fine Chemical, etc. It has three excellentcourses of the school level: Environmental Chemistry, Advanced OrganicChemistry and Chemistry and Life. It also has an excellent course of theprovincial level: Environmental Chemistry.

The department has always attached greatimportance to scientific research as an important aspect of the disciplineconstruction. It has sent more than 20 teachers to domestic or overseas famousuniversities to have advanced studies, or to do cooperative scientificresearches, which have positive effect. Since 2002, over 120 academic papershave been published, of which over 50 papers were published separately in “Journalof the American Chemistry Society”, “Advanced Materials”, “Advanced FunctionalMaterials”, “Organic Letters”, “Chemistry of Materials”, “Chemistry—A EuropeanJournal”, “Chemical Communications”, “Journal of Organic Chemistry”, “Journalof Materials Chemistry”, and of which over 80 academic papers were Indexed byCA, over 50 papers were ndexed by SCI ,both of them are famous internationalacademic abstracts. The department participated in and completed more than 30scientific projects. Currently it holds 8 provincial research projects,and haspublished more than 20 textbooks.

Ever since the department was established,more than 5000 undergraduates and colleges level graduates have graduated. Thegraduate employment rate reaches 100% for 3 consecutive years.
