There are 20 full-time teachers in the Department of Music，including 3 professors, 6 assistant professors, 8 lecturers, and 3 assistant lecturers. 45% of them are of associate professor status or above. The education background of the faculty includes one member of faculty working on doctorate degree, 9 members with Master’s degree, and 2 of the 9 Master’s degrees from universities overseas.

There are three majors in the Junior College Programme (3 year) in the department including Music Education, Music Performance and Performance Arts.

Music Education trains students to become music teachers who would have the teaching abilities to engage in music education. The main courses are: vocal music, piano, solfeggio, polyphonic music analysis and exercise, piano match play, dance choreography techniques, instrumental music, chorus and command, Chinese and foreign history of music and masterpiece appreciation, subject teaching, songs writing and small band management.

Music Performance trains students to become applied music performance talents who adapt to working in performance groups, communities, enterprises, institutions, schools, government agencies, the military and so on. Main courses include: Solfeggio, Chinese and foreign history of music and masterpiece appreciation, vocal music, piano, instrumental music, physique and dancing, basic performance training, chorus(tutti) and command, work performance, figure design, dance culture, Chinese classical dance and body charm, Chinese classical dance technical skills, China national folk dancing, children’s dance, modern dance, choreography techniques, etc.

Music Performance and Performance Arts trains students to become compound art talents who would master a certain movie and TV performance theory and comprehensive performing skills and can complete different roles. Main courses include:  Chinese and foreign history of film, Chinese and foreign classical famous film appreciation, physique, dance, basic performance training, vocal music, mandarin pronunciation correction, lines, performance, cosmetic, basic director training, the film and TV manufacture base, advertising and music performance etc.
